Step Seven: Submit the web site to All Major Search Engines - How it Works

Submitting your site to the major search engines is also an important part of submission. I'll let you in on a little secret: the best way for a search engine to find you is from a link that it finds on another web site. That's why I place a link to your site on my front page when it's ready to go.

However, it's still important to be prepared in advance. I use a very detailed submission checklist that helps make sure the site will rank well and ensure that it won't get blacklisted for unethical practices, known as search engine spamming. Yes, they can do that! Did you know that Google even has an apology form for sites that get banned?

The site also must have a clear and concise site map that both the engine as well as visitors can use. Here's how it works:

• When the site is ready, I add it to my site so it will get spidered. My site is an established site that is spidered regularly by the search engines.

• Use Internet Business Promoter software that submits site to every major search engine worldwide (some of them DO need to find you by this method, and it never hurts to do it)
