Content Management - Managing Your Own Content
What is "content management"? A content management system (CMS) is software designed to allow users to create, edit, manage, and publish content to their own web site. What types of content?. With content management you can create new pages in your site, edit existing pages, add your own images, videos, audio and other types of files.
The software I use to help users manage their own web sites is called Joomla. Joomla is the largest open source (free) content management system in the world. There are thousands of additional programs, called extensions, that you can install that improve the functionality of the web site.
The look and feel of these sites are template based. The templates can be modified somewhat, changing colors and images (such as a custom banner with your logo). Here are some links you may want to visit if you're interested in managing your own content:
There are a wide variety of Joomla templates available on the Internet. I can help you find one based on your needs, or you can search yourself online by using the template browser or by going to a search engine and typing in "joomla templates". Some are free, some can cost up to a hundred dollars, but are very professionally designed and can be worth the investment.
